They serve 4200 meals every week to people who are struggling.

And the on-set of Covid-19 has only increased the demand.

While the demand has increased, the ability to run major fundraisers has been drastically curtailed.

St Merkorious recently sent out an SOS to its supporters.

The PAYCE Foundation is a long-term supporter and quickly answered the call with a $100,000 donation.

PAYCE Foundation Executive Manager Andrea Comastri said COVID-19 presented unique challenges for charities which often rely on donors to run their operations.

“St Merkorious has an outstanding record of assisting people who are in need – that’s why the foundation answered the call.’’

St Merkorious President Paula Nicolas was grateful for the overwhelming support saying its charity partners are vital in delivering meals to those in need.

“Without support from our corporate sponsors we could not possibly meet the demand and deliver the meals we currently provide,” Ms Nicolas said.

“Thank you, PAYCE Foundation.”
